Emphasizing business hardships during Minnesota government shutdown
At a time when Minnesota’s elected officials were working to plug a multi-billion-dollar budget gap, why would they consider taking actions that would cost government nearly $900,000 per week in unrealized revenue, state and local taxes?
That’s one of the questions Minnesota Forest Industries asked before and during the state’s 2011 government shutdown. To emphasize the hardships of a shutdown on an industry that employs 30,000 and has a $9 billion annual economic impact, MFI asked Greenfield Communications to develop a campaign aimed at government leaders and the public.
We ran ads on the state’s most influential political and general news websites, which were seen by hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans. Those ads linked to information that further supported MFI’s case on its website, which also included a letter citizens could email their local representatives with a few simple clicks.
